According to vigilance bureau officials, Ajit Kumar, a computer operator working at the regional office of HSPCB at Sector 5 here, demanded a bribe of 50,000 from the owner of Jai Baba Naga Arjun Brick Kiln, Sohan Sharma, for getting some clearance from the department for the brick kiln.

Officials laid a trap to nab him after Sharma complained to the vigilance bureau. Currency notes of 1,000 denomination were laced with phenolphthalein powder. As Sharma handed over the money to the computer operator, the bureau officials nabbed him.

DSP Rajpal, head of the vigilance team, said the accused would be produced before court on Wednesday.
