In eastern sectors, public spaces remain symbols of neglect

Residents claim that the ‘safai karamcharis’ visit the sectors ever day but do not clean the areas properly. The garbage piled up on both sides of several roads and service lanes in Sector 27 reflects the poor maintenance here.

The neglect on the part of residents of Sector 28 comes to the fore when one visits the houses in that sector. All kinds of waste have been dumped behind the houses lined up in this sector. On the road dividing Sector 28 and 29, garbage and construction debris have been carelessly dumped.

Fortunately, 28A is comparatively cleaner. But, the green belts in this area are not well maintained. Sector 29 does not present an encouraging sight either.

Residents have conveniently turned vacant spaces into garbage dump yards. A board warning residents against dumping garbage obviously has no impact here.

Sector 30, the last stop in this visit, is in dismal state. The courtyard of an ‘anganwadi’ in Sector 30B contains garbage and weeds. Even the green belts in the posh area of 30A have not been cleaned up.
