In a press release, Joshi said the date was extended as residents of urban areas did not get adequate time to pay the property tax due to the civic body polls.

The release added that the rebate will not be available after March 15, so one should file the property tax within this date. "Last date to file property tax without any fine is unchanged as March 31, after which fine will be imposed," he added.

Joshi added that these instructions had been sent to regional deputy directors, commissioner of all municipal corporations and executive officers of municipal committees and panchayats.
