PG crackdown: residents for easier availability of verification form
SAS Nagar residents have demanded the town's civic body to upload the police tenant verification form on its website and also make it available at saanjh kendras in the town.
The demand comes close on the heels of the police crackdown on house-owners who had failed to get the antecedents of their tenants verified. In a recent meeting between residents and administration in Phase 1 here, residents gave the reason that several landlords were women and senior citizens who hesitate in going to police stations for the verification process.
They also pointed out that saanjh kendras did not have the software for uploading details of PGs and tenants, and demanded one. Former councillor Kuljeet Singh Bedi had earlier written to SAS Nagar deputy commissioner, pointing out the problems faced by residents in getting the antecedents of their tenants verified.
“We have demanded that the forms should be made available online and at all saanjh kendras for the convenience of residents,” he said.
Two more PG owners booked
The police on Thursday booked owners of two houses in Phase 1 for failing to get the antecedents of their tenants verified. Lokesh Gupta, a resident of Shahi Majra, was booked for renting out 36 rooms without going through the mandatory process. Similarly, Rajwant Singh, a resident of Phase 5, was booked for a paying guest (PG) accommodation for girls. There were 15 girls staying at his residence, though their antecedents had not been verified.
