Private engg colleges come to the aid of PSEB topper

Coming to the aid of SAS Nagar Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) Class 12 topper Jaspreet Kaur, different engineering institutes in the periphery have offered her free engineering course. They will also provide her with books and stationery free of cost.
Kaur, a student of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Kharar, besides topping in nonmedical stream, is the district topper with 96.89%. After the result, Kaur had shared that her father Inderjit Singh was the sole bread winner for the family and in case she did not get any scholarship or financial help, she won’t be able to pursue her studies. Following this, Kaur has now been approached by several institutes that want to help her and provide her with education free of cost.
“I have been approached by some institutes and also some individuals, who want to sponsor my education. I am still in a fix which opportunity to go ahead with and after discussing it with family and teachers, I shall decide in a day or two,” she said.
The colleges that have approached Kaur for providing free admission to Btech course include Chandigarh University; Sri Sukhmani Group of Institutes, Dera Bassi and Swami Vivekanand Institute of Engineering and Technology, Banur. There has not been any mention of help by the education department.
