SAS Nagar: Man gets 12 yrs in jail for raping minor

The court has also slapped the fine of Rs 10,000.
The convict has been identified as Gursewak Singh, who was an auto driver and a resident of Makkran village in Kharar. The case was registered on August16, 2014 for raping a minor on the pretext of marriage.
In her complaint, victim's mother said the convict had taken her in his auto and after making the false promise of marriage, Singh took her to a hotel in Chandigarh where he raped her.
The police have registered a case under Section 376 (rape) and 420 (cheating), and also imposed protection of children from sexual offences (POCSO).
