Ruma was working at Government Senior Secondary School Kanaid in Balh segment. Her body was fished out on Friday. Deceased mother Lohari Devi lodged a complaint alleging that the SMC was torturing her daughter over a complaint of a thrashing incident by a girl student.

The police said the girl and her parents’ statement had been registered and document of a written complaint was also seized from the school.

The deputy superintendent of police (DSP), Kulbhushan Verma, confirmed about registering of a case against the SMC and said the police were investigating into the incident.

Meanwhile, the school principal, Kamlesh Gupta, said the girl informed him about the thrashing incident on September 8. He said that the SMC and the school authorities had nothing to do with the incident as it occurred outside the school campus.
