Identified as Suresh (25), Deepak (24) and Sachin (18), the victims, along with two other friends, had gone to the river to take bath in the afternoon.

While the trio could not swim safe, Sandeep and Sagar managed to reach the river's bank.

After reaching the shore, Sandeep and Sagar raised the alarm and also informed members of their family for help.

People from nearby fields gathered at the spot and launched a rescue operation, but it was too late for the youth who had flown with the water current.

Thereafter, naib tehsildar Fateh Singh and station house officer Sultan Singh reached the spot with divers, boats and other rescue operation items to launch a search operation.

Not the lone incident
This is the second such incident reported in the past 40 days. On August 3, five youngsters - Shiv Kumar, Jitender, Ankit, Ravi and Virender - had drowned in the same river.
