The victim has been identified as Joginder Kaur, a resident of the colony. When Joginder was going for an evening walk with her husband, the miscreants allegedly blocked their way and asked Joginder to hand over the jewellery.

When the couple refused, they allegedly took out a gun and fled with Joginder's earrings, necklace and neck chain.

Thereafter, the couple raised the alarm and scores of people reached superintendent of police Vivek Sharma's residence. Some even tried to block the Rohtak-Delhi highway, but with the police's intervention the blockade was averted.

The protesters returned only after Sharma assured them of proper action.

Civil Lines' station house officer Kuldeep Beniwal said: "A case has been registered against unidentified persons under section 392 (robbery), 25/94 of the Arms Act and police are on the lookout to nab the accused."
