The victim, Dharminder Singh of Prem Nagar, hung himself from the ceiling of his house. Police recovered a suicide note from his pocket, in which he blamed his wife and father-in-law for his death.

The DSP said, “The victim’s wife had gone to her parents' home in Chour Sidhwan over a month ago and was refusing to return. Dharminder was finding it difficult to manage home and work and had gone into depression.”

Police have registered a case under Section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code against Dharminder’s wife and father-in-law.
