The second Test between India and Sri Lanka, a pink ball game starting on Saturday, March 12 in Bengaluru, could have a full stadium occupancy. The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) on Thursday allowed 100 per cent crowd attendance for the match due to a sharp decline in COVID-19 cases and high demand for tickets.
"The KSCA is pleased to report that there has been a very positive response for viewership of India vs. Sri Lanka Day-Night Test cricket match, which will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore from March 12-16, 2022. Given the overwhelming response and the lack of further restrictions for spectators, the KSCA will begin selling tickets for the stadium's full capacity," KSCA treasurer Vinay Mruthyunjaya said in a statement.
The fact that tickets for the general public were available for purchase on March 1 indicates KSCA's readiness for the match. In general, state associations begin selling tickets only a few days before the scheduled match day. Tickets were available on an online platform beginning Tuesday, as is customary these days. From March 6 onwards the process of redeeming online tickets and purchasing new ones has begun at the stadium box office.
"Given the overwhelming response and the lack of additional restrictions for spectators, the KSCA will begin selling tickets for the stadium's full capacity." Additional ticket capacity is being made available through the Box Office sale on Friday, March 11, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., according to a KSCA statement on tickets.
Tickets for the Grand Terrace (INR 1,250 per ticket) are the most expensive of the tickets that will be available offline beginning today. Fans will pay INR 750 (E-Executive and N Stand), INR 500 (D-Corporate, A Stand, B Lower and B Upper), and INR 100 (G Upper / G Lower 1 and G Lower 2). Readers should be aware that these tickets will not be available online and that interested fans will have to visit the stadium box office to purchase them.
The PCA Stadium in Mohali was allowed 50% crowd capacity for the first Test between India and Sri Lanka, which was also Virat Kohli's historic 100th Test.
