4 held with 10kg heroin, arms module busted in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur

Accused were local handlers of foreign-based gangsters involved in drug trafficking and supply of illegal weapons; two foreign-made pistols, eight magazines, and 40 cartridges recovered.

Punjab Police on Monday busted a narcotics and illegal arms module with the arrest of four persons and recovery of nearly 10kg of heroin and two pistols besides 40 cartridges in Hoshiarpur.

“In a major breakthrough, Hoshiarpur police busted an inter-state/foreign-linked narcotics and illegal arms module, apprehended four accused, and recovered 9.925 kg heroin, two foreign-made pistols, eight magazines, and 40 live cartridges,” director general of police Gaurav Yadav said in a post on X.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were acting as local handlers of foreign-based gangsters involved in drug trafficking and supply of illegal weapons, Yadav said.

An FIR has been registered at the Garhshankar police station in Hoshiarpur district.

“Further investigation is underway to establish forward and backward linkages and dismantle the entire network,” said the DGP.

Just two days ago, the Amritsar counter-intelligence wing intercepted a 64.62kg heroin consignment linked to handlers in Pakistan and Portugal. So far in 2026, the Border Security Force and state police have recovered over 330kg of heroin and dozens of foreign weapons along the international border.
