A 65-year-old man died after losing control over his motorcycle due to low visibility caused by smoke emanating from a field and fell into its burning stubble in Lopoke village of Amritsar.
A 65-year-old man died after losing control over his motorcycle due to low visibility caused by smoke emanating from a field and fell into its burning stubble in Lopoke village of Amritsar, on Wednesday.
Police have identified the deceased as Sukhdev Singh of Kohala village, 25-kms from the district headquarters. According to information, the incident took place at around 2:30 pm, when Sukhdev was on way home on his motorcycle.
When Sukhdev reached close to Sacred Heart Convent School in Lopoke, his motorcycle veered off the road due to smoke emanating from the burning hay, police added. The motorcycle fell in the burning field and Sukhdev died on the spot.
Lopoke station house officer, Mukhtiar Singh said the police teams are verifying identification of the landowner, in whose field the mishap took place. A case will be registered against him under Section 304-A (causing death by negligence) 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), 188 (disobedience to orders duly promulgated by a public servant) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), he said.
