Officials said that around 7.15pm on Thursday, an Army patrol deployed along the border fence observed a suspicious movement of a suspected militant with a backpack in Rumlidhara area. “Upon observing the movement, the Army patrol opened speculative fire,” they added. A search operation was later launched in the area adjoining the fence.

Army fires at Pak drones

Meanwhile, the Army thwarted a Pakistani drone intrusion along the LoC in Rajouri district. Officials said that three drones crossed into Indian airspace near Rumlidhara in Nowshera during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.

Alert troops detected the movement, following which counter-drone systems were immediately activated. The swift action forced all three drones to retreat across the border, officials said, adding that a search operation has been launched in the area as a precautionary measure.
