Bribery case: High court dismisses bail plea of CM window employee
The court had given him the interim protection from arrest, pending petition in high court. However, after state’s response, the court has dismissed his plea
: The Punjab and Haryana high court has dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of an employee associated with the CM Window, Haryana, in a bribery case.
“Given the massive involvement of amount of ₹1.25 crore, the petitioner who was working in a sensitive position, involved in a crime, such crimes would crumble the entire system which in turn would also crumble the rule of law,” the bench of justice Anoop Chitkara said while dismissing the plea.
The FIR was registered on February 6 at Palam Vihar police station for criminal conspiracy, cheating and criminal intimidation.
The accused employee, Sandeep Kumar is CM Window ‘dealing hand’ at office of deputy commissioner of police, West, Gurugram.
He had approached high court seeking bail on September 13. The court had given him the interim protection from arrest, pending petition in high court. However, after state’s response, the court has dismissed his plea.
The allegations were that Sandeep Kumar told the complainant that he was having good relations with senior officers and other dealing persons in the town and country planning department and by using his position of being working at the CM Window seat, he could get his work done through the officers. The complainant, who had a piece of land in Faridabad, had a file pending with the government about changes in some revenue or town and country planning department record.
Allegations are that an amount of ₹1.25 crore was demanded, the accused alongwith one Anil took an advance of ₹25 lakh and later on two instalments of ₹10 lakh and ₹15 lakh. But when the work was not done and the complainant became suspicious, he recorded calls etc. which eventually led to the duo threatening him. Finally, he got an FIR registered in February 2023.
The police had argued that custodial interrogation was required as recovery of amount of ₹25 lakh is also to be made and initial probe points to his involvement.
