Central university of Himachal to host int’l conference on Buddhist studies in Feb 2023
The conference will be organised jointly with International Buddhist Confederation and is likely to be attended by Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama, Himachal chief minister, and governor
The Central University of Himachal Pradesh in Dharamshala would organise an international conference on ‘Promotion of Buddhist Studies and Culture across Buddhist Circuit’ in February next year, vice-chancellor Prof Sat Prakash Bansal said on Thursday. The objective is to promote Buddhist culture in the state as well as India, he said after a meeting with International Buddhist Confederation’s (IBC’s) adviser Rajesh Kumar Raina. The conference will be organised jointly with IBC and is likely to be attended by Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama, Himachal chief minister, and governor besides representatives from seven countries with whom India has cultural relations. Prof Bansal said the university would also start a course in Buddhist studies.
10-day course ends at Dr YS Parmar University
A 10-day course cum training on ‘Recent Development in Organic Production Systems and Natural Farming’ concluded at Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, on Thursday. Seventeen scientists from different universities of states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal, and Jammu and Kashmir participated in the training. Addressing the trainees during the valedictory session, Professor Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, vice-chancellor said it was wonderful to see scientists from different institutions working in unison for the good of the agrarian community. He said natural farming is a farmer-centric approach where scientific community is learning along farmers. In the training, participants were apprised of the aspects of natural farming. The course also included field visits to university farms in Mashobra and Nauni and hands-on training on the field.
