Chandigarh: Manimajra roof collapse leaves three children injured
Three children were injured in Manimajra when a roof collapsed due to heavy rain and gusty winds, trapping them under debris for several minutes.
The rain and gusty winds also led to a roof collapse in Manimajra’s Govindpur area on Friday morning, leaving three children injured.
The minors, aged 8, 12 and 16, were inside the house when its roof gave way, leaving them trapped under the debris for several minutes. As the roof came crashing down with a loud thud, and the children started screaming for help, neighbours rushed to the spot and pulled them out of the rubble. They were rushed to Manimajra civil hospital from where they were later referred to Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, where they remain under treatment.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that the house was in a highly dilapidated condition. An adjoining wall, which got weakened due to the continuous rain, first crashed onto the roof, leading to the collapse.
