In a statement, the former Union minister said that the growing fear among ordinary citizens due to the rising crime graph clearly indicates that the rule of law in the state has weakened. Referring to recent incidents such as the attack on a jeweller in Karnal and the murder of a woman in Panipat, Selja said these events raise serious questions about the state’s law enforcement.

“The criminals are committing offences openly and ordinary people feel unsafe, while the government appears completely incapable of controlling the situation,” she said, adding that no place is safe. “The increasing crime against women is a blot on society and it is extremely alarming.”

The MP demanded that the state government immediately enforce law and order, ensure the strictest action against offenders, hold police and administration accountable, and restore public confidence in safety. “People of Haryana desire peace and security, and it is the constitutional duty of the government to ensure the protection of citizens’ life and property,” she added.
