Four members of Lawrence Bishnoi gang caught in Punjab’s Rupnagar

Three pistols, ammunition, including a magazine and 22 cartridges, besides a sword and 12 iron rods were recovered from the accused

Four accomplices of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi were arrested and three pistols, a magazine and 22 cartridges were recovered from them in Rupnagar district, police said on Monday.

Senior superintendent of police Vivek Sheel Soni said the police acted on a tip-off and arrested the four gangsters on November 26. He said the fifth accused managed to escape.

The four gangsters, Kuldeep Singh Karry, Kulwinder Singh Tinka, Satvir Singh Shammi and Beant Singh, were planning a strike when they were caught. A sword and 12 iron rods were also recovered from them.

All four were already booked under Sections 307, 148, 149 of the Indian Penal Code besides the Arms Act at Koom Kalan police station in Ludhiana district on October 6 after they shot at and injured a man before fleeing.

They were produced before a local court and remanded in two days’ police custody for interrogation.

A case was registered under Sections 399 and 402 of the IPC and the Arms Act at the Morinda police station.
