Over a week after health supervisor Mahinder Pal Loomba accused Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Moga Dr Amandeep Kaur Arora of corruption, the latter sent a defamation notice to the medical officer and also filed a complaint against him, claiming that the official was trying to defame her by making ‘false allegations’ on social media.

The MLA sent a defamation notice to Loomba through her lawyer and also warned of filing a defamation case against him.

The MLA has also named gangster-turned-politician Lakhwinder Singh alias Lakha Sidhana in her police complaint.

Loomba had accused the MLA and Moga civil hospital’s senior medical officer Dr Sukhpreet Singh Brar of ‘corruption’ after he was transferred to Patiala. He had alleged that he was shunted due to ‘political reasons’.

Moga senior superintendent of police (SSP) J Elanchezhian said the MLA has filed a complaint against Loomba alleging that he is defaming her on social media by making ‘false allegations’.

“We have taken the complaint and started investigation into the matter. So far, no FIR has been lodged in connection to this complaint,” he added.

MLA Dr Arora termed Loomba as a ‘blackmailer’. “I have submitted a complaint against Loomba to the police and also sent a defamation notice to him. We will also pursue this in the court,” she said.

“He has a history of blackmailing leaders. In 2016 when he was transferred from Moga, he accused then cabinet minister Tota Singh for this. When I was elected MLA in 2022, Loomba came to me to get transfer back to Moga. At that time, he also threatened me that his wife will go on a hunger strike. Now, during routine transfers, he was sent to Patiala. It was a departmental decision. I was not even aware of this, but he made a false allegation. I challenge him if he can prove whatever he claims. He is just making false allegations,” she added.

Loomba’s transfer from the Moga civil surgeon’s office to Patiala had evoked protests by health department workers and various organisations came in his support.

Loomba has claimed that he was transferred as he did not invite local AAP MLA to the mega blood donation camp which was organised in Moga on June 14. Later, Loomba alleged that he has been removed from Moga as he was in possession of ‘several proofs’ in connection with the ‘widespread corruption’ Moga Civil Hospital.

He even accused that three air-conditioners of Moga Civil Hospital were installed at the residence of the MLA. “She is also using the driver from Moga Civil Hospital for her personal work. She has also taken a bribe of 3 lakh from SMO in exchange for his posting at Moga,” he added.
