Haryana leg of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra ends at Ambala
The yatra entered Punjab for a night halt at Fatehgarh Sahib and a formal flag handover ceremony will take place on Wednesday morning. Rahul will pay obeisance at Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib and the yatra will commence at 6:30 am, party leaders said.
The Haryana leg of Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi ended at Ambala’s Saini Bhawan on NH-44 amid dense fog on Tuesday.
The yatra entered Punjab for a night halt at Fatehgarh Sahib and a formal flag handover ceremony will take place on Wednesday morning. Rahul will pay obeisance at Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib and the yatra will commence at 6:30 am, party leaders said.
AICC communication in-charge Jairam Ramesh said that on January 12, the yatra will cover 25 kilometre till 1 pm and there will be no padyatra in the evening on 13th due to Lohri festival.
Jairam also addressed a press conference at Saini Bhawan and was accompanied by former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Haryana in-charge Shaktisinh Gohil and others.
He said the yatra covered seven districts in Haryana including Nuh, Gurugram, Faridabad, Panipat, Karnal, Kurukshetra and Ambala.
Jairam said that in Haryana, the yatra faced tough cold weather conditions and more than that bad roads.
“There are more potholes than roads in the state. I also got injured during the yatra due to uneven roads and I must say that roads in Haryana and Madhya Pradesh are worst,” he added.
During the yatra in the state, Rahul met a group of ex-servicemen, farmer groups and several sports personalities. The leaders, however, targetted BJP to condemn online attack on ex-servicemen, who joined the yatra. Former Rajya Sabha MP and actor Raj Babbar also joined the yatra in Ambala.
