Right to service: Commission seeks action against Haryana’s Mahendragarh municipal commissioner

Acting tough, the Haryana Right to Service Commission has sought departmental action against district municipal commissioner Mahendragarh for neglecting his supervisory duties under the Haryana Right to Service Act.

Commission secretary Hitender Kumar said in a statement that the commission received 15 appeals on the auto appeal system about services related to urban local bodies of Mahendragarh , which were pending and delayed by the designated officers. When appeals were raised on the auto appeal system for the delays with district municipal commissioner Mahendragarh , being the grievance redressal authority, he also failed to take any action leading to the escalation of the matter with the commission.

Taking cognizance of the matter, the commission issued a letter to him. The secretary said that no report was received from the district municipal commissioner, Mahendragarh and he was called for a hearing before the commission.

The auto appeal system launched by chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on September 1, 2021, ensures that appeals are automatically raised with the grievance redressal authority and subsequently the commission in case of delays in the delivery of citizen services.

“During the hearing, he stated that all these cases had been resolved but not uploaded on the portal. However, he failed to furnish any evidence before the commission to prove his contention. Even after the hearing, the district municipal commissioner, Mahendragarh , failed to provide any satisfactory reply to the commission. Similar notices had been issued to other commissioners of municipal corporations and district municipal commissioners across the state and most of them have submitted their reports to the commission,” the secretary said.
