According to the complaint, the VHP leader received a WhatsApp call from an unknown number. The caller allegedly identified himself as a member of the Godara gang and demanded the money, threatening to kill him if he failed to comply within the stipulated time. The complainant approached the police and sought immediate security and legal action.
Police officials said the complaint had been received and an investigation was underway. The mobile number used to issue the threat is being verified, while cyber experts have been roped in to trace the origin of the call. Security around the complainant has also been strengthened as a precautionary measure.
Police said further legal action would be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
