Residents of Daya village in Hisar, under the banner of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Amavata), honoured self-styled godman Rampal, who heads Satlok Ashram, for his contribution in helping villagers deal with flood-like situations.
Rampal, who is lodged in Hisar jail in a case involving the death of five disciples during a clash with police at his ashram in Barwala in 2014, was honoured with ‘Kisan Ratna’ by the BKU (Amavata). His sons, Virender and Manoj, along with his brother, Mahender Singh, attended the function and thanked the union and village residents for honouring the jailed self-styled godman.
BKU(Amavata) state president Dilbagh Singh Hooda said, “Rampal’s followers had distributed motor-pump sets in 300 villages of Haryana and helped farmers’ drain water earlier this year when the state government failed to help the people.” He added, “We have nothing to do with politics and we honoured Rampal Maharaj for his contribution during the crisis and standing with the farming community.”
