Iron trader’s employee shot at, robbed of ₹12 lakh in Punjab

An iron trader’s employee was grievously wounded after three-bike borne men shot him in the abdomen before fleeing with his bag containing ₹12 lakh at Mandi Gobindgarh in Punjab’s Fatehgarh Sahib district on Monday.

The victim has been identified as Parminder Singh, a resident of Sirhind who works at Yuvraj Impex based in the industrial town of Mandi Gobindgarh.

According to police, Parminder was travelling from Sirhind to Mandi Gobindgarh with money collected from the house of his firm’s owner when the incident took place in Preet Nagar area of the industrial town.

The robbers allegedly threw chilli powder in Parminder’s eyes after waylaying him, and shot him in the abdomen before fleeing on their bike with the snatched bag. The local police rushed to the spot immediately after the incident, and started collecting CCTV footage of nearby areas to trace the men.

Meanwhile, Parminder was taken to the civil hospital in Mandi Gobindgarh in a critical condition, from where doctors referred him to Rajindra Medical College, Patiala. Jameel Mohammad, station house officer, Mandi Gobindgarh police station, said a case has been registered and multiple teams have been formed to nab the accused.
