A policeman was found hanging inside a room in Rajouri town under mysterious circumstances on Thursday. The deceased was identified as a 36-year-old selection grade constable, hailing from Mendhar area of Poonch district. “He was posted at the district police lines in Rajouri. He was found hanging inside a rented room of his friend, also a policeman, in ward number 7 in Rajouri. The friend, who had rented the room, was not present at the time of incident,” said an official. He said that prima facie, it appeared to be a case of suicide. We have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of CrPC, he added.

Aircraft-shaped balloon with ‘PIA’ mark seized in Samba

A balloon in the shape of an aircraft with ‘PIA’ mark was found in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district, officials said on Thursday. On sighting the ‘PIA’ (Pakistan International Airlines)-marked balloon in Sarna, a border village, the locals informed the police, who rushed to the spot and confiscated it, the officials said. Such balloons have been found floating frequently along the International Border and the Line of Control.
