A day after a 19-year-old factory worker was found bludgeoned to death at a vacant plot on Mann Nagar, Daba Road, three men have booked for the murder.

The accused have been identified as Ajit Kumar of Daba Road, Raj Kumar of Hargobind Nagar, Giaspura, and Pakia.

The FIR has been based on the statement of Mangal Singh of Baba Mukand Singh Nagar of Daba Road, the father of the victim, identified as Anthony.

Mangal stated that the trio had on Saturday night come to their home on different bikes and taken his son along. The next morning , he was found bludgeoned to death with stones. Police had scanned CCTV footage in which the three men were seen consuming liquor with Anthony.

Sub-inspector Madhu Bala, station house officer (SHO) at Division Number 6 police station, said police conducted raids to arrest the trio, but they are on the run. “The motive for the murder case only be ascertained after they are nabbed,” said the SHO.

A case has been registered under Sections 302 (murder) and 34 (common intention) of Indian Penal Code.

Miscreants broke the window of a car parked outside the cremation ground near Gaushala Gaughat and stole a bag. One Gagandeep Singh, a resident of Model House, said the bad contained jewellery, a mobile phone and a watch. 25-yr-old man ends life by jumping before train

A man ended his life by jumping before a train near the Giaspura railway crossing on Monday. The deceased is estimated to be around 25 years old. “We are trying to identify the deceased. No identity card or mobile phone was recovered and the body had been kept at the mortuary of the local civil hospital,” said ASI Kirpal Singh. The ASI said as per statement of the train’s driver, the man committed suicide and it was not an accident. Inquest proceedings have been initiated.

Motorcycle-borne snatcher targets woman

A Jammu-based woman lost her bag to snatchers near Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Sunday. The victim, Sunita Devi, 47, said her husband Jagannath is admitted to the hospital. She had come outside to buy something, when a motorcycle-borne man snatched her bag. She said the bag contained 1 lakh and two mobile phones. ASI Navin Kumar, investigating officer, said a case under Section 379-B of Indian Penal Code has been lodged against unidentified accused.
