A 43-year-old woman was seriously injured after her husband allegedly chopped off her nose with a hoe following a dispute between the couple in Bhorewal Kalan village.

The accused, Sukhpreet Singh, has been arrested by Sidhwan Bet police and booked under Section 109 (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to the victim, Balvir Kaur, the assault took place on March 18 during a domestic dispute. The altercation began when Singh allegedly abused their daughter and tried to attack her. When Kaur intervened, he struck her repeatedly with the hoe, causing severe facial injuries.
Sub-inspector Hemraj Singh, SHO of Sidhwan Bet, said the woman alleged a history of domestic abuse spanning several years of their 25-year marriage. The couple has two adult children.
“The severity of the attack and the intent to cause fatal harm led us to register a case under attempt to murder,” the SHO said.
Police have recovered the hoe used in the assault and taken the accused into custody.
