The challans were issued in CRPF Colony, Dugri Road, near the Dugri Road traffic lights, and other areas. The violators were also directed to clear the waste they had dumped.
The night patrolling drive has been launched on the directions of mayor Inderjit Kaur and civic body commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal.
Civic body officials said challans are being issued regularly for garbage burning and open dumping across the city.
Municipal commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal said, “Besides challans, strict legal action, including registration of an FIR, will also be taken against repeat offenders and challans of up to ₹25,000 will be imposed for burning garbage as it contributes to air pollution.”
Meanwhile, mayor Inderjit Kaur and commissioner Dachalwal appealed to residents to hand over household waste to garbage collectors or dispose of it only at designated static compactor sites of the civic body.
