Man held for beating father to death in Sonepat village
The victim was identified as local resident Sardar Singh. His 46-year-old son, Brahm Dass, initially fled the scene after the murder but was arrested within a few hours.
A 70-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by his son in Thana Kalan village in Sonepat district, police said on Tuesday.
The victim was identified as local resident Sardar Singh. His 46-year-old son, Brahm Dass, initially fled the scene after the murder but was arrested within a few hours.
According to preliminary investigation, the victim was brutally assaulted with a stick, after which the suspect fled. Locals claimed that the accused, Brahm Dass, had a history of severe drug addiction and violent outbursts, having returned home just a month prior following treatment at a rehabilitation facility.
The body was sent for the post-mortem examination, while the police recorded the statements of family members and villagers.
Police arrested the accused within hours of the incident. Officials said further investigation is underway and legal action will be taken based on the post-mortem report, forensic evidence and statements collected during the probe.
