The Phase-8 police have rescued an 18-year-old woman from Rajasthan and arrested three people for allegedly abducting her and forcing her into marriage.

The case was registered on the complaint of victim’s mother Anju, a resident of Kumbhra village, who alleged that her daughter, Varsha, was taken by a neighbour to Ferozepur around three months ago to do background work in films.

Police said a technical and human intelligence-based investigation led to the arrest of Surjit Singh, Jaswinder Singh alias Gill and Jaswinder Kaur from Bathinda on July 26. During interrogation, the accused allegedly disclosed that they forced the woman to marry a Rajasthan resident.
