Admitted is a biographical docudrama on the life of Dhananjay Chauhan - the first transgender student of Panjab University, Chandigarh.

The award included a silver conch and cash prize of 5 lakh to be divided half and half between the director and the producer. Sharma said the cash prize will be shared with Dhananjay and his team at Pinaka Mediaworks whose sound team helped the film get recognition.

An elated Sharma said, “It’s a huge recognition and I am thankful to the Films Division for this. Admitted got much recognition and love from the audience which is heartening. Filmmakers, students and audience from diverse background shared on how it impacted and influenced them, which is a true win for our film and Dhananjay Didi who has been working towards raising awareness and bringing the LGBTQIA+ community into the mainstream.”
