Only National Conference can secure future of J&K and its people: Rattan Lal Gupta

Rattan Lal Gupta, National Conference provincial president, appealed to the J&K residents to support his party going forward

The National Conference provincial president Rattan Lal Gupta on Monday said the present set-up had miserably failed to provide basic amenities to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, adding that only the National Conference was capable of securing the best future for the people of the UT.

Speaking at a media interaction, National Conference provincial president Rattan Lal Gupta said only his party could secure a good future of J&K and its people. (PTI)

Addressing a day-long convention at Jib Thathi in Udhampur, Gupta said the administration has failed to provide basic amenities to the people in remote areas and farmers were suffering under the imposition of taxes on irrigation and the tall claims of doubling their income remains a distant dream.

He castigated the Union government for adopting anti-people policies that have made the life of the common man miserable, accusing them of making false claims of providing government jobs to 30,000 youth in public sector enterprises.

Gupta also alleged rampant corruption in the UT, adding that with the cancellation of written exams for the posts of police sub-inspector and the recruitment of border battalion as well as reports of the scrapping of the Finance Account Assistant (FAA) selection list has left the youth confused, before appealing for support from the public.

Outgoing President fulfilled BJP agenda: Mufti

Srinagar Taking a swipe at the outgoing President of India, Ramnath Kovind, the People’s Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti on Monday said he fulfilled the Bharatiya Janata Party’s political agenda during his tenure.

The former Jammy and Kashmir chief minister also alleged that the Constitution was trampled upon several times during the outgoing President’s tenure, adding, “Be it the scrapping of Article 370, CAA or the unabashed targeting of minorities and dalits, he fulfilled BJP’s political agenda. Outgoing president Ramnath Kovind completed his term on Sunday, with Droupadi Marmu being sworn in as the 15th President of India.

Tiranga bike rally kicks off from Srinagar’s Lal Chowk

Srinagar Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) youth wing kicked off a bike rally carrying the national flags from the clock tower at Lal Chowk on Monday. The rally is expected to reach Kargil on Tuesday for the celebrations on Kargil Vijay Diwas.

The rally and the function at Lal Chowk were organised by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) and saw participation from prominent party leaders including national general secretary Tarun Chugh and Jammu and Kashmir president Ravinder Raina and yuva morcha national president Tejasvi Surya.

The rally was flagged amid strict security measures, including restrictions in and around Lal Chowk prompting the closure of the Lal Chowk market, the business hub of Srinagar. A prominent school in the area also closed owing to the heavy security.

Speaking on the occasion, Raina said, “There is festivity and zeal among the youth, while they hold the tricolour in their hands.”
