Punjab BJP chief Jakhar seeks guv intervention in teaching job aspirant’s suicide case

Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar on Wednesday sought governor Banwarilal Purohit’s intervention in the case of suicide by a teaching job aspirant, who blamed the state’s education minister in a purported note for taking the extreme step.
Jakhar was accompanied by the family members of the deceased. Speaking to reporters, Jakhar said: “This incident is a blot on the face of the state government.” The BJP leader also demanded a time-bound action in the case and urged the governor to personally intervene to ensure justice for the aggrieved family.
The kin of the deceased job aspirant continued their protest outside the mortuary of the Rupnagar Civil Hospital. The family members said that they won’t allow the post-mortem to be conducted until action is taken against the minister. They also threatened to block the national highway in Rupnagar if their demand was not met.
On Tuesday, the family members of a teaching job aspirant, who died by suicide on October 21 by jumping into the Sirhind canal, had filed a complaint against education minister Harjot Bains in Rupnagar. Rupnagar SSP Vivek Sheel Soni said the purported suicide note and the woman’s mobile phone are being sent for forensic examination. Akali Dal also demanded action against minister Bains.
