Sippy Sidhu murder case: Court to pronounce order on evidence supplied to defence on Dec 16
The matter had come up for hearing in the CBI court on Monday, where the defence for Kalayani said they need to be supplied with all evidence that have been collected by the agency and not just documents which are favourable to the prosecution
The CBI court will pronounce its order on December 16 regarding the evidence supplied by the CBI prosecution to the defence of Kalyani Singh in the Sippy Sidhu murder case.
The matter had come up for hearing in court on Monday, where the defence for Kalayani said they need to be supplied with all documents and pictures that have been collected by the agency and not just documents which are favourable to the prosecution.
The prosecution said that these are just tactics to delay the case and argued that all documents, emails and messages as retrieved have been handed over to the defence as available with them.
The prosecution added that some of the other documents and pictures as sought by the defence can’t be given as it would be an invasion of privacy, while the defence argued that they were being selective.
The court observed that an order regarding this application will be pronounced on the next date of hearing, which is December 16. Investigating Officer of the CBI, deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Ravinder Kush, has been directed to remain present in court for this.
The accused has filed two other applications which will also be heard by the court. This include the merging of the murder case with the protest petition filed by complainant Deepinder Kaur against Chandigarh Police inspector Poonam Dilawari and former assistant superintendent of police Guriqbal Singh Sidhu, for allegedly destroying evidence in the case; and another application moved by her counsel to preserve the videography and audiography of her remand between June 15 to June 21, 2022, alleging that Kalyani had been tortured in custody.
