Srinagar court rejects fake PMO official’s bail plea
Patel, who posed as a senior officer in the PMO, had applied for a bail. However, CJM, Srinagar, Raja Mohammad Tasleem rejected his bail plea saying that his release could hamper investigation. The CJM in his 17-page order stated that the bail plea of the Gujarat-based conman is without any merit.
A J&K court on Thursday rejected the bail plea of Kiran Patel, a conman from Gujarat who was arrested on March 2 from city’s posh hotel after he posed as a senior officer in the PMO.
Patel, who is currently in judicial custody, had applied for a bail. However, the chief judicial magistrate (CJM), Srinagar, Raja Mohammad Tasleem rejected his bail plea saying that his release could hamper investigation. The CJM in his 17-page order stated that the bail plea of the Gujarat-based conman is without any merit.
“I am of the considered opinion that arguments advanced by APP are just, proper and appealing and carries much weight and on the other hand I respectfully disagree with the submission put forth by counsel for the applicant (Patel) because in case at this stage discretion of bail is exercised in favour of the accused, it shall definitely destroy the very fabric of the investigation. Resultantly, in my considered opinion the instant application is devoid of any merit which deserves to be rejected, hence rejected,” the CJM observed, adding that Patel had visited several sensitive places which are most protected in Kashmir during his visits.
Patel was arrested on March 2 from a city hotel and was under police remand for 14 days, later he was sent in judicial remand.
The Jammu and Kashmir administration has issued fresh advisory and asked its officials to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) while recommending or according security details to people coming from other states.
