India is all set to mark the 80th Independence Day on Saturday, August 15. While celebrations will take place all over the country, special focus will remain on Delhi, the national capital, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver his customary address from Red Fort, and a majestic parade will also take place.
Keeping in mind the rush for this parade, Delhi Metro services will begin at 4am from all terminals on August 15. This is to facilitate all the special invitees and the general public attending the ceremony at the Red Fort, said DMRCin an X post this Thursday.
Trains will run at a 30-minute frequency from 4am on all lines until regular revenue services resume.

Pre-vended QRs for invitees
{{/usCountry}}To ensure smooth travels, DMRC has issued 1,30,000 special pre-vended QR tickets to the Ministry of Defence for Special Guests and invitees. Additionally, invitees with valid physical admit cards issued by the Ministry of Defence will receive special pre-vended QR tickets at designated metro stations to facilitate their journey. The cost of travel using the special QR tickets will be reimbursed to DMRC by the Ministry of Defence.

Which stations are nearest to Red Fort?
The Lal Quila, Jama Masjid, and Delhi Gate Metro stations are the nearest stations to the Red Fort.
Taking the Delhi Metro to attend the ceremony is recommended because roads around the Red Fort will have significant restrictions and diversions, causing traffic jams. Parking in the venue is also heavily controlled.
It is also recommended to reach early because security checks and crowd movement may take quite some time.
