The Delhi Assembly has set a deadline of July 31, 2026, for health departments to report on improvements to public health infrastructure following PAC recommendations.

New Delhi: The Delhi Assembly has set a July 31, 2026 deadline for departments to submit an action taken report (ATR) on recommendations of Public Accounts Committee on the capital’s public health infrastructure, officials said on Thursday.

The directive follows the adoption of the Public Accounts Committee’s (PAC) first report based on the Comptroller and Auditor General of India audit for the year ending March 2022. Departments have been asked to submit the report detailing progress as of June 30, 2026.

Delhi assembly speaker Vijender Gupta said the move marks a transition from audit observations to enforceable outcomes. A formal communication has also been sent to the health minister and health secretary, seeking a comprehensive and time-bound response, said an official.

The PAC report examines gaps in infrastructure, service delivery, and management of health services, calling for strengthening public hospitals, expanding healthcare coverage, and ensuring equitable access to quality care.

Gupta said healthcare must remain inclusive, especially for migrants coming to Delhi for work, education, or treatment, adding that investments in infrastructure, manpower, and preventive care are key to building a resilient and equitable health system.
