Delhi cabinet rejig: Atishi gets water portfolio, Saurabh gets tourism

In a minor reshuffle, Delhi government minister Atishi was allocated the water department, of which minister Saurabh Bhardwaj was in charge. The departments of tourism, art and culture, which was being handled by Atishi, will now be under the charge of Bhardwaj, officials aware of the matter said.

The file related to the reshuffle was sent for the approval of Lt Governor VK Saxena who has given his nod to it, they added.

Earlier on August 12, the LG had approved another rejig by allocating the portfolios of services and vigilance to Atishi as proposed by chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on August 8. The portfolios of services and vigilance were also held by health minister Saurabh Bharadwaj. In June, Atishi was given the additional charges of the revenue, planning, and finance departments, which were earlier held by transport minister Kailash Gahlot.

Atishi is the only woman minister in the seven-member Kejriwal cabinet. She was inducted into the cabinet in March along with Bharadwaj after former deputy CM Manish Sisodia and former health minister Satyendar Jain tendered their resignations following their imprisonment in separate cases.
