Delhi court records statement of Aussie woman murder accused Rajwinder Singh

Singh is accused of killing Toyah Cordingley, an Australian woman in Queensland Australia, in 2018 and later fleeing the country

Delhi’s Patiala court on Tuesday recorded the statement of Rajwinder Singh on his extradition application. Singh is an accused in the murder of an Australian woman in 2018.

Singh earlier expressed his willingness to be extradited stating that he wants to go to Australia and contest the case filed against him over there.

On the last date of the hearing on January 7, he moved an application giving his consent to be extradited to Australia, claiming he is not guilty.

“I did not kill the woman. I want this case to be investigated by the Australian police,” Singh said earlier.

Singh was arrested on November 25, 2022, by the Delhi police special cell and is facing an extradition inquiry in India. Upon his arrest, he was subsequently produced for extradition processes before the Patiala court in Delhi, where the court remanded him to judicial custody.

Earlier, a non-bailable warrant was issued against Singh by the court.

The Delhi court has now put up the matter for further consideration on his statements on January 13.

Australia’s Queensland police have also announced a reward worth 1 million Australian Dollars, the largest reward ever announced by a department, for information on Rajwinder Singh who is a fugitive.

On November 25, based on inputs shared by CBI/INTERPOL and Australian counterparts, the accused was apprehended near GT Karnal Road and arrested by the special cell of Delhi police.
