The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) is set to install charging stations at its bus depot to allow private heavy vehicles such as trucks and buses to park and charge at these spots. Officials said that it is aimed at increasing the number of heavy electric vehicles (EV’s) in Delhi that usually do not get space at public charging stations.

“We have seen that it is difficult for heavy commercial vehicles to use public charging stations as there isn’t enough space for them. This is a deterrent against the use of more heavy vehicles as EVs in the transport sector,” said a transport department official.
This facility will initially be given at 10 depots with 4-5 points at each. Officials said that a space will be carved from the DTC depots that have enough area for parking and turning radius available for buses and trucks.
If the demand increases, the department will look at increasing the number of such charging stations, officials added.
