A 40 year old man who is accused of killing his 10-year-old daughter in Jammu, in 2016, was arrested from southeast Delhi on Friday, police said on Saturday.

Police said the accused, Ramesh Kumar, originally from Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur district.
According to the Delhi police, Kumar was working as a labourer at construction sites in Jammu. In February 2016, he allegedly hit his daughter on the head with a stick, suspecting that she was not his biological child. The girl later succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
A murder case was registered against him at Gandhi Nagar Police Station in Jammu, said a senior police officer.
According to the police, after the crime, Kumar fled Jammu and remained absconding for several years. He later started living under the false name “Rajveer” in Delhi.
“The arrest came, following a request from the Jammu and Kashmir Police to trace the accused. We received inputs that he was living in the Sanjay Colony area of Bhati Mines,” said DCP (crime) Harsh Indora.
