Man murders 17-year-old in outer Delhi, arrested

NEW DELHI: A 17-year-old girl was murdered by an 18-year-old man on Wednesday in Lekh Ram Park area under Mundka police station of outer Delhi, police said.

Police said the girl was murdered in Lekh Ram Park area in outer Delhi on Wednesday. They said she had objected to the relationship between the accused and her mother, who worked together in a factory in Bahadurgarh. (HT Photo)

According to the police, the accused was in an alleged relationship with the victim’s mother, and she was opposed to it. The accused worked in a factory at Bahadurgarh with the deceased’s mother, the police added.

Sameer Sharma, deputy commissioner of police (outer Delhi), said a PCR call was received at Mundka police station at 1.11pm on Wednesday, reporting that man has slashed the throat of a girl at Lekh Ram Park area of Tikri Border. “The police team immediately reached the spot, where a girl of around 17 years was found injured. She was immediately taken to CNC Hospital in Tikri Border by the police, where the doctors declared her brought dead,” he said.

He also said that after the incident, the accused, who was later identified as 18-year-old Harish Kumar, was overpowered by the public on the spot. “During investigation, it was revealed that victim’s 48-year-old mother was in a relationship with the accused and the victim had serious objection to their relationship. The police will record the statements of victim’s parents,” he said.

The DCP said that the dead body of the girl has been preserved at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Mangolpuri. “We’ll hand over the dead body to the parents after the post-mortem examination. The mobile crime team and Forensic Science Laboratory team were called to the spot. A case under section 302 (culpable homicide amounting to murder) has been lodged in this connection at Mundka police station. Further investigation is going on,” Sharma said.
