A 24-year-old man was arrested in Faridabad for stabbing his father multiple times after being asked to find a job, police said on Friday.

Police said the suspect, Vikas alias Vicky, was arrested near Saini Chowk in Old Faridabad on Wednesday.

The incident took place on Sunday night when the victim, Bal Kishan, 46, was at home with his wife Poonam and their two sons, Vikas and Yogesh alias Yogi, 21, police said.

According to police, Kishan and his wife advised Vikas to find a job to support the family. They said Vikas was enraged by the taunts, which resulted in an argument between them.

A senior police officer said that he verbally abused his father, picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed him.

“Kishan sustained multiple stab wounds in the chest, waist and back that left him critically injured,” he said.

Investigators said that Vikas fled from the house. Kishan’s wife and second son alerted police and rushed him to the Badshah Khan civil hospital for treatment, where doctors referred him to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.

Yashpal Yadav, public relations officer of Faridabad police, said, “An attempt to murder case was registered against Vikas at Old Faridabad police station, and he was arrested Wednesday.

Yadav said that during the investigation, it came to light that Vikas had four cases of assault and public nuisance registered against him in Faridabad and Palwal.
