The Lucknow district administration on Monday carried out drives against land Mafiosi in Mohanlalganj, Sadar and Bakshi Ka Talab tehsils and freed government land worth ₹12.88 crore from their illegal possession.

Sub-divisional magistrates (SDMs) of these three tehsils, along with other officials, were present during these drives in several villages.
According to district magistrate Abhishek Prakash, maximum land was freed from Mafiosi in village Paikaramau of Bakshi Ka Talab tehsil. In this village, about 0.660 hectare land was freed from encroachers, the market value of which is around ₹2.72 crore.
The district magistrate said such drives would continue.
It may be pointed out that the state government has ordered drives against land Mafiosi in all 75 districts of the state.
In addition to this, the Lucknow Development Authority is also carrying out drives against illegal buildings. The development authority has demolished several buildings in the state capital in its ongoing drive.
