Uttar Pradesh deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya meets PM Modi, Amit Shah in Delhi
Keshav Prasad Maurya says he received guidance and blessings on subjects related to the development of villages and the poor by meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Parliament House
Uttar Pradesh deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah in Delhi on Monday.
“Received guidance and blessings on subjects related to the development of villages and the poor by meeting him at Parliament House,” Keshav Prasad Maurya tweeted after the meeting with PM Modi.
His visit evoked much interest as Keshav Prasad Maurya has been tasked with the key rural development ministry in the Yogi government 2.0.
The rural assignment, party leaders indicated, assumes much significance as the party, after its spectacular win in the 2022 UP polls, has now set its sights on continuing the trend of big wins from UP that has been witnessed since the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
From rural jobs to creating rural infrastructure, delivery of some popular pro-poor schemes like toilets and houses, Keshav Prasad Maurya is now overseeing many such schemes which found regular mention by Modi during the UP assembly election campaign.
Maurya, who described Modi as the “world’s most popular leader”, also met Amit Shah whom he likened to“Chanakya.”
“The current BJP leadership rewards hard work and Maurya being made Dy CM despite losing an election has its own significance,” a party leader said.
“Received blessings and guidance from Amit Shah ji at Parliament House office,” tweeted Maurya after meeting Shah.
The UP BJP is also looking for a state unit chief. Several senior ministers in Yogi’s first government have been left out of the second government. The present UP BJP chief Swatantra Dev has been made the Jal Shakti minister in UP. He is widely expected to quit as the state BJP chief in keeping with the party’s “one-man, one-post” principle.
