Mumbai: Three people were arrested for allegedly assaulting a police sub-inspector with beer bottles and stones when the victim and his team went to apprehend them. One person, who was allegedly involved in the crime, is still missing.

The accused, who are arrested, are identified as Bhushan Pandit More, 34, Shubham Vinod More, 28, and Rohit Abbasaheb Kengar, 26. The accused, who is still at large, is identified as Ashish alias Ashu Joshi.
Earlier, More was booked for an attempt to murder in a separate case, said a police officer, adding, “The four work as a gang and meet at vacant railway quarters near Eastern Express Highway in Ghatkopar East after committing crimes. They consume alcohol and drugs in the colony.”
Acting on a tip-off, the victim – identified as Jaywant Pawar – and three other policemen raided the railway quarters.
“We went there as one of the accused has a past criminal record. I went to search if he was carrying any weapons or drugs. When I reached the spot, they started abusing us and one of them then hit me with a bear bottle on my head and another picked up a stone and hit me in the face,” said Pawar, who sustained injuries to his head and near his eye.
“Other policemen who were on the backside reached the spot and together we managed to nab three of the accused. The fourth, however, succeeded in fleeing,” added Pawar.
