Pathak, who also holds the health portfolio, asked hospital authorities to make proper arrangements to protect patients and their kin from cold weather conditions. He also inspected the ICU ward of the hospital and met the patients admitted there. Apart from facilities, the deputy CM also asked patients about the behaviour of the medical staff.

“There should be no laxity in providing treatment to the patients. Junior and senior residents and paramedical staff should behave well with patients and attendants,” said Pathak. He also instructed hospital authorities to open more counters to cut long patient queues.

In addition, the hospital management was also directed to not make the patients wait for days for radiology and pathology tests. To this, Dr Sonia Nityanand, the director of the institute, who accompanied the minister during the visit has said, “Every possible help is being provided to patients and doctors always try to give the earliest dates for treatment.”

Medical superintendent Dr Vikram Singh was also present during the minister’s visit.
