Dhumanganj police registered an FIR against 10 persons including six named accomplices of former MP Atiq Ahmad for issuing threats and demanding extortion of ₹1 crore. The case was lodged on the complaint of one Krishna Kumar Pal Dhangar of Jayantipur locality.

In his complaint, Krishna Kumar claimed that Atiq’s aides were trying to grab his land in Peepalgaon area and were threatening him. He further alleged that on January 11, active members of Atiq Ahmad’s gang Khalid Zafar, Mohd Muslim, Dilip Kushwaha, Abusaad and six unidentified persons arrived with some labourers on his land. They pointed firearms at him when he raised objection and threatened him in Atiq Ahmad’s name and demanded ₹1 crore as extortion or leave his land. They threatened him with dire consequences if he stepped on his land without paying ₹1 crore.
SHO of Dhumanganj police station Ramesh Kumar Maurya said an FIR has been registered on his complaint under sections 147, 148, 504, 506 and 385 of IPC and further investigations were being carried out in this connection, he added.
