On the occasion, a wreath-laying ceremony was held to honour the martyrs by Lieutenant General Gajendra Joshi, General Officer Commanding, Strike One. In his address, Lt Gen Joshi encouraged all ranks of the corps to train regularly and be prepared when they are called to serve the country.
Since its inception, the corps has excelled in several missions. The most notable of them being the Battle of Basantar in 1971 in which 53 enemy tanks were destroyed and large areas of the enemy territory was captured by the Indian forces.
The function was also attended by NCC cadets and all officers present at the Mathura station. The Strike One Corps has collectively received a host of awards for their gallantry -- 13 Battle Honour, three Paramvir Chakras, 16 Mahavir Chakras, and 46 Vir Chakras.
